Hummus is a great option to get protein and fiber in during travel. Pair it with veggies and/or crackers for a flavorful snack. Use fun containers to keep the veggies together and cut down on packaging waste.
Yogurt Tubes
Yogurt tubes are great, easy travel snacks! They also double as an ice pack. Freeze them before your road trip and place them in the cooler with your other perishables. In a few hours, your yogurt will be defrosted for a cool, creamy yogurt snack. Or try frozen for a frosty road treat!
Portioned Packs
Pre-portioned snacks make road trip life so much easier and saves so much time. Choose pre-packed bags of sweet and salty treats for all ages. Protein bars are great for keeping you full!
Fresh fruit
Fresh fruit that is less messy are a great option to pack and go on the road. Blueberries, clementines, bananas, apples (whole or sliced), strawberries, and grapes are a few great options. You can even pack dried fruits for an easy, mess-free snack.

Nuts are a great source of healthy fats, fibers, and protein. They also contain omega 3 and 6, essential oils. Nuts and seeds don’t spoil and you can pop a few in your mouth whenever you want. Try almonds, cashews, walnuts and pecans; pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, chia seeds, and sunflower seeds. Overall a great snack option!
Overnight Oats
Overnight oats are a great breakfast option on the road. Simply fill a mason jar or container with equal parts of oats and warm water or milk. Then add your favorite toppings. Berries, seeds, and honey are great options. Leave in the fridge overnight. While on the road, keep in your cooler.
Trail Mix
Trail mix is another easy and healthy option. Try with popcorn - guaranteed to be loved by the kids.
Muffins
Mini muffins are easy to pack and eat.
Homemade Sandwiches
Sandwiches are classic road-trip meals. They’re easy to eat while underway or at a rest stop, and there’s a sandwich for everyone. Ham and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, egg and cheese, potato salad, etc.
Water bottles
Use reusable water bottles and fill them up at stops throughout the trip. For single-use water bottles, use as ice packs in your cooler and drink as they defrost. Drinking water keeps everyone hydrated, energized, and alert without the crash of sugary drinks and caffeine. Add herbal tea bags, sliced citrus fruits, or frozen berries for a little flavor.
Before hitting the road, grab a cooler and ice packs for longer drives in warmer climates. To prevent spoilage, cold food such as cheeses, yogurts, meats, or milk should stay below 40 degrees fahrenheit.
If possible, enjoy those snacks at a rest stop picnic table to give the kids a chance to stretch their legs and even run off some of the energy! Don’t forget to pack wipes and napkins or paper towels just in case the little ones manage to get messy.
