It is nearly impossible to discuss football season in Western Pennsylvania without the mention of buffalo chicken dip. This easy and flavor-packed dip can be prepared in a multitude of ways, all ending with a delicious end result. Start off with a rotisserie chicken from Kuhn’s Market and begin to shred until you have your desired amount, about 3 cups. Into a baking dish or oven-safe pan, combine chicken with 16 oz. of cream cheese, 1 cup of ranch dressing, 1 ½ cups of cheddar cheese and ¾ cup of hot sauce, preferably Frank’s. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until warm. Top with green onions and serve with tortilla chips, crudité or pita and enjoy at your next tailgate!

Speaking of tailgates, this nationwide game day phenomenon has been around longer than you may think. Although it became popularized in the 1950’s with the creation of portable grills and the building of enormous stadiums, forms of tailgating can actually be traced to ancient Greece. Within the past few decades, tailgating has soared to new heights as fans have dedicated hours of their time to roast pigs and play games in parking lots and garages near the stadium. Hear more about the tradition of tailgating from our previous cooking hour here.

Another amazing way to enjoy yourself on a football Sunday is to sit back and eat a crispy, flavorful chicken wing. Kuhn’s has excellent deals on chicken that is easy to prepare on the stove or in the air fryer. Start by patting your chicken wings dry with a paper towel before tossing the wings in a mixture of baking soda with your favorite spices. Place onto a baking sheet with a rack and put into the oven at 425 for about one hour, turning every 15-20 minutes until cooked through and crispy. Toss your wings in your sauce of choice afterwards to ensure the wings are full crispy and don’t become soggy from the sauce. There are a plethora of sauces to choose from to toss your crispy wings in after they have been cooked to the proper temperature. Serve with celery, carrots and ranch and enjoy the game!

Kuhn’s Tip: Serve with sauce on the side so the wings can be enjoyed by everyone with different flavor preferences!

A sweet treat to enjoy after your savory dips and snacks is the fan-favorite puppy chow. If you are unfamiliar with this recipe, it only requires four ingredients: Chex, peanut butter, semi-sweet chocolate chips and powdered sugar. Melt together equal parts of peanut butter and chocolate chips and slowly layer over plain Chex. Allow the cereal to cool and cover with powdered sugar and chill again. Serve this treat at your next football watch party and it is sure to be a hit!

Kuhn’s Tip: Substitute almond, cashew or other nut butters depending on allergies.
