Easter Egg Swap Outs
We're getting close to Easter, and with Easter comes the beautiful tradition of decorating eggs. And while everyone loves to dye eggs, we're here to share some creative alternatives and help you think outside the egg.Dying Easter eggs is always a fun activity, but so is baking, and since everything is better with dessert, may we suggest decorating an Easter egg cake or Easter egg-shaped sugar cookies. Use your favorite cake mix or try this recipe from Food Network (it's the perfect cake to decorate with the kids). You can also bake sugar cookies in the shape of Easter eggs and decorate them with your favorite icing. Decorate with beautiful pastel colors and add candy eggs, sprinkles, or sugar crystals for an extra touch. Check out this link for some creative designs to try.
Dying marshmallows is another excellent way to celebrate the season. All you need is some food coloring and a package of marshmallows. Mix a half cup of water with 10 to 20 drops of food coloring into different bowls and dip the marshmallows into the bowls. Let marshmallows dry on wax paper. Get all the supplies at your local Kuhns Market.
Plastic Easter eggs make excellent molds to create egg-shaped Jell-O jigglers, which are fun and tasty. Use solid colors, or try mixing colors for an exciting effect.
You can also make Easter egg ornaments with a few simple ingredients. All you need is 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup cornstarch, and 3/4 cup water to mix. Once mixed, roll your dough out and cut using an egg-shaped cookie cutter. Poke a hole in the top for hanging and bake at 175 degrees for about an hour. After baking, use paint or markers to decorate, loop a string through the hole in the egg, and viola, a sweet little ornament you can give as a gift or decorate a package.
These are just a few ideas for making your Easter egg-stra special. We hope you're inspired to take your egg decorating to the next level. Visit Kuhns Market to start your Easter Egg Swap Out shopping list!
