They were created by Ruth Wakefield, who ran the Toll House Inn restaurant with her husband in Massachusetts. She first developed this cookie in the late 1930s to pair perfectly with ice cream, and it became such a hit that it spread across the U.S. and eventually took the world by storm. Today, we enjoy these iconic cookies with milk, coffee, or ice cream. They are even Santa Claus approved!
